After the triumph of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem last season, the Debussy Quartet is set to repeat the feat, this time highlighting its alter ego, Joseph Haydn’s Seven Last Words. These two composers had a mutual admiration for each other, and their works reveal an eminently collected character and undeniable inner strength. Louise Moaty’s staging of the piece is stripped to the bare essentials, with heather earth and the bodies of the musicians in motion. Four presences, four solitudes that become one through music. The evening will mirror Mozart’s greatest choral works (Ave Verum, Lacrimosa, Kyrie, Nocturne…), with the participation of Ensemble Vocal Éphémère!
