The Debussy String Quartet, in permanent residence at the heart of the Institut National Supérieur du Professeur et de l’Éducation (INSPÉ) in Lyon for more than three years, is organizing an open stage in its gardens on the occasion of the Music Day, on Monday, June 21, 2021, starting at 5p.m. (3 rue Philippe de Lassalle, Lyon 4th). For the fourth consecutive year, the musicians and their team will open the doors of this green setting, located in the heart of the Croix-Rousse district, for a festive and friendly evening of concerts, in compliance with health regulations.
In a will of opening and sharing, this meeting is the occasion for many amateur and professional musicians to perform voluntarily in a place usually closed to the public. Making music accessible to all the inhabitants of the district, encouraging encounters between local ensembles and groups, imagining new forms of participative and unusual concerts, are the key words of this event encouraged by the City of Lyon and the 4th Lyon City Hall, supported by the Metropolis of Lyon and INSPÉ Lyon.
The first confirmed artists: the Lucette Choir, the Groix-Roussiens Choir, Les Enchanteurs Vocal Ensemble, 1air2violins / Gorille Prod Company, Ope’Trio, the Héméra Quartet (from the specialized string quartet cycle led by the Debussy String Quartet at the Lyon Conservatory) and the Debussy String Quartet.
This year again, the activity of the musicians, like that of all artists, has come up against the damage of the health crisis, condemning an essential part of their relationship with the public. Because live performance deserves to be experienced as close as possible to everyone, the Debussy String Quartet, accompanied by its students from the Quatuor Héméra, will meet the inhabitants of Lyon (its home town) during the day, before the evening concerts. Through meetings and exchanges in several schools and health establishments, the Debussy String Quartet wishes to make this Music Festival a real human and artistic experience.
